About Mocha VNC

Mocha VNC is an application for the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. It enables you to have full, secure access to your work computer through an Internet or network connection. Using your PDA device, you can connect to your Linux/Mac or Windows computer and see the files, programs, and resources exactly as you would if you were sitting at your desk, just on a smaller screen.

Menu - Connect to VNC Server

Use this command (or tool bar GO) to start a new session with your VNC Server

  • Server IP Address: IP Address for the VNC Server. Either a DNS name or a raw IP address, such as 192.168.1.1 . As default port 5900 is used, but it is possible to add a port number to the IP address: VNCSERVER:5902 or 192.167.2.2:5910
  • Password: Password on the VNC Server. Notice this is not a secure option. It is better to give the password in the secure sign on screen displayed, when the session to the workstation has been established
  • Auto connect. Start a session to the VNC Server, when the VNC client is loaded.
  • Auto reconnect. If the server close a session, the session will be started again
  • If a SSH2 server is installed on the network, it is possible to create a secure SSH2 tunnel between the PDA device and the SSH2 server. The SSH2 server could run on the VNC server, but it is not required. Notice, using SSH2 will increase the band width needed.

    Menu - Disconnect

Close a session with the VNC Server

    Menu - Properties

The properties dialog can be split into 2 pages

    Menu - Properties - license

After ordering Mocha VNC from MochaSoft, a license key will be received.
Enter the key together with the License Name given on the Order.
As there is link between the license name and license key it is important to enter both very careful.

If the program reports "Wrong type of License key" , please check:

The license dialog box should look as:

    -----------------------------------------------

    This product is licensed to:

    mycompany

    License key:

    1234

    ---------------------------------------------

Where you should replace "mycompany" and "1234" with the information from the License letter.

Still problems, please contact Mochasoft and if possible include :

  • Product you are using and version.
  • Type of OS/ hardware platform

    Menu - Properties - Other

Startup background picture If not using auto connect, a help screen is displayed on program start. This can be replaced with another picture file in gif format
Show wait icon on double clickTo make it easier to feel a double tap has been made
Send mouse move eventsWhen moving the pen over the screen, Mocha VNC must send events about the action to the VNC server. In some programs these events are not necessary, and line band width can be saved. Other applications as drawing on the screen will need these events

    Menu - Zoom factor

The middle zoom mode (you have 3 zoom icons on the tool bar) can be customized with this option.

    Order Mocha VNC

It is possible to buy Mocha VNC via the Internet. Visit www.mochasoft.dk , and get the latest information about the products and prices.

    License system

There are two different types of license.

A company license can be used by a single company. If there are branch offices or home workstations, a single company license will be valid. For a multi-national company, we must ask for a company license for each country.

With a company license it is possible to install the product on an unlimited number of work-stations.

Set Up Your Server or Workstation for VNC access

A VNC software package must be installed on the server, to allow Mocha VNC access to the server.

    See www.realvnc.com for details.

Other servers exists, such as TightVNC, but not all supports the ZRLE encoding technology, which is preferred for low band width situations.

If the UNIX/Linux version of realvnc is used, it is possible to select the size of the server screen with parameter -geometry.

       -geometry 800x600

gives a useful screen and requires limited band width.
